Maggie is a second year student at Ryerson University studying Journalism. She is a 2016 Youth Bursary recipient and member of FirstOntario CU.
Maggie caught our attention when she wrote “I have been diligent in pursuing my interest for my chosen career path of journalism since I began high school, joining the newspaper and completing a coop in the field. I have always been driven to pursue my love for writing and have made an effort to volunteer and gain experience while maintaining high marks and working a part-time job throughout high school. Despite having to adjust at university, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in a tough program and doing volunteer work on the side.”
She keeps busy. This past year she has volunteered at SoccerWorld teaching kids soccer, volunteered at the university’s community radio station The Scope, and volunteered for the Hamilton Immigrant Worker’s Centre writing for their newspaper. She also helped out at Ryerson University, volunteering to write notes in all he courses at school and post them online for people who have disabilities which prevent them from taking notes.
