30 Anniversary Golf Classic Raises Funds for CU Succeed Youth Bursary
Oakville, Ontario – September 29, 2021 – For the past 30 consecutive years, Ontario Credit Union Foundation has hosted a golf event to raise funds. Over the years the charitable purpose has changed, and for the past six years all funds have gone directly to the CU Succeed Youth Bursary. The bursary provides funding for post-secondary students in Ontario who are pursuing a university degree, college diploma, or red seal in a trade.
This year 35 corporate sponsors supported the event along with 100 golfers. Under sunny skies at Cherry Hill Golf Course in Pickering golfers played a scramble format. Fun was had by all, and golfers received a commemorative gift to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
OCUF Board Chair Liisa Woolley commented, “It was a delight to greet so many people working in or supporting the credit union sector on Monday. We are proud to say we raised $83,700 which all goes towards the 2022 CU Succeed Youth Bursary program.”
“Our special thanks to our many supporters, sponsors and golfers who made the day a special one. COVID restrictions curtailed some group activities, but our guests didn’t seem to mind” added Executive Director Clayton Shold.
This year OCUF awarded $75,000 in bursary funding, bringing our six-year total awarded to $436,000 to 327 students.
