31st Annual Golf Classic Raises Over $96,000 for Youth Education

Oakville, Ontario – September 28, 2022 – One hundred golfers braved the rain to participate in the 31st Golf Classic at Hidden Lake Golf Course in Burlington. The weather didn’t dampen their spirits, rather it demonstrated the golfer’s perseverance.

With the support of our golfers and sponsors, Ontario Credit Union Foundation raised a total of $96,494, which will help fund the 2023 CU Succeed Youth Bursary. Board Chair, Liisa Woolley commented, “We are so incredibly thankful to our Credit Union members for their ongoing support of youth education in Ontario.  Your ongoing generosity through the Bursary Booster campaign and support of the Golf Classic has made it possible for us to provide access to quality education to over 400 students.”

In 2022 eighty students representing 21 Ontario credit unions shared $100,000 in CU Succeed Youth Bursary awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Students are adjudicated on four criteria, the main two being demonstrated financial need and community support.

This was the seventh year Ontario Credit Union Foundation (OCUF) has presented awards. Over this time, $536,000 has been distributed to 407 post-secondary students.

Board Vice, Chair Frugina Ball, commented “It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces who have embraced this cause and donated prizes, purchased tickets or sponsored the Classic.” Frugina went on to say, “I worked along side one of our four-time bursary recipients who helped check in golfers and I have to say how very impressed I was with this young woman. It reaffirms for me; the future is bright!”
