The Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation today announced the date of their 25th anniversary golf classic.

When: Monday, June 13, 2016

Where: Lionhead Golf & Country Club, Mississauga Road, just north of Hwy 407 & Hwy 401

Who: Ontario Credit Unions and their friends and supporters

Why: To raise funds to support OCUF’s youth initiatives including the CYL program.

“We’re excited to reach the 25 year mark in an event which has gained a reputation for being the premier golf event for networking and supporting the charitable works of Ontario Credit Unions,” said Clayton Shold, Executive Director, Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation. “We’re also pleased to announce that CUMIS is returning as the event’s title sponsor.

The anniversary golf classic will be held on Lionhead’s masters course which golfers of all levels will enjoy.

Several enhancements are being incorporated into next year’s event based on feedback received from last year’s participants. For those who don’t want to golf details of a companion event taking place during the golf classic will be announced shortly.

“Participating in this golf classic or companion event is great way to support OCUF’s youth initiatives and make a positive difference in a young person’s life. Over the last 25 years the OCUF golf classic has raised over $1,034,904 for charitable causes,” says Dan Coldwell, Board Chair, OCUF.

Golf registrations will be available in January and will be limited to 144 golfers. Sponsorships are now available. “Named” events are spoken for quickly so do not delay in reserving your opportunity to support the event.

For more information on the event or sponsorships contact Devon Rowan at 289-813-1963 or Clayton Shold at 289-813-1962.

Foundation Fundraiser a Success!

Wet_golf_2015The weatherman didn’t get the memo! But that didn’t dampen the success of the 24th Annual OCUF Golf Classic.

Golfers began their round accompanied by rain in the morning but the skies cleared in the afternoon. Spirits remained high all day. It was tough to put a damper on this fun event which helps raise funds for the Co-operative Youth Leadership Program.

Those non-golfers who elected to tour Royal Botanical Gardens and participate in a floral arranging workshop stayed dry, although a few will wear more comfortable walking shoes next time! The arrangements that came back were very impressive. One commented “it is amazing what you can do with simply white flowers and greenery.” A number of the golfers experienced some greenery too, the type that was well off the fairways!golf_2015_1

We were all left to wonder what Libro CEO Stephen Bolton was doing with the Meridian sign. Contrary to the rumours, no ransom note was ever found.

A very special thank you to all the participants and to our many valued sponsors who continue to believe in OCUF and the good work we do with credit unions across Ontario that make such a big difference in their local communities.

golf_2015_2A shout out to our volunteers who made the day run ever so smoothly. Tina and Sam (pictured under the umbrella) and Mark Ventry from ON Co-op managed registration and assisted with the prize draws. OCUF Board members Scott Windsor and Deanna Basso were your roving photographers and social media gurus. Special kudos to Devon Rowan who worked for many weeks to ensure the success of the 24th Annual OCUF Golf Tournament & Botanical Tour.

Royal Ontario & Royal Botanical June 8th

Calling all golfers and horticulturalists! Mark June 8th on your calendar for our annual fundraiser! Royal Ontario and Royal Botanical…

This event has a reputation for excellence in quality of venues and experience for our guests. We hope you will join us this year.

For the golfers we return to the Royal Ontario Golf Club in Hornby ON (north of Oavkille at 6378 Trafalgar). Ted Baker created one of Kaneff Golf’s most challenging tracks. The layout unfolds over an old equestrian centre that has a dramatic hilly terrain, dotted with Burlington-RoyalBotanicalGardenwetlands in lower lying areas of the Sixteen Mile Creek river basin. Each and every hole features a unique challenge that will test your game. Make sure you are decisive and hit your shots with authority!

For those who have a passion for all things green, join the tour of Royal Botanical Gardens, enjoy lunch, and participate in the floral arranging class in the afternoon before returning to the golf course for happy hour.
