Ontario Credit Union Foundation celebrates another successful Golf Classic bringing together more than 50 credit unions and partner organizations in support of youth education
OAKVILLE, ON — September 2026 — The Ontario Credit Union Foundation (OCUF) celebrated the 35th Annual OCUF Golf Classic on September 14 with a fantastic day of golf, networking, food, learning and plenty of fun, all in support of the next generation of credit union members and leaders.
The event brought together representatives from more than 50 credit unions and partner organizations, with golfers and guests enjoying a full day at Royal Ontario Golf Club. Non-golfers had the opportunity to take part in a hands-on cheese workshop, making for a unique and memorable day both on and off the course.
Most importantly, the event raised an incredible $65,000 for the CU Succeed Youth Bursary (CUSYB) program, helping provide bursaries to Ontario students in 2027.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out, sponsored, golfed, volunteered and helped make this year’s Golf Classic such a success,” said Rea, Executive Director of OCUF. “It is always incredible to see so many people from across the credit union system come together, have fun and support students at the same time. The $65,000 raised will make a real difference for students pursuing their post-secondary education.”
Two CUSYB recipients also joined the event as student volunteers, giving attendees the opportunity to meet some of the young people whose lives are directly impacted by the program. Their participation was a meaningful reminder of what the credit union community is helping make possible.
During her speech, Victoria reflected on the impact the bursary has had on her life:
“Receiving this bursary made me feel that the support I’ve given to a community that means so much to me goes both ways. I’ve been fortunate to stay connected to my community through volunteering and helping with community events, and this bursary reminded me that the work students do in their communities is seen and valued. I’m very thankful to RCU, OCUF and everyone who supports the CU Succeed Youth Bursary. I hope that as I move forward in my education and career, I can continue that same spirit of support by giving back and helping others in my community.”
Investing in the next generation of credit union members
The CU Succeed Youth Bursary is available to eligible members of OCUF member credit unions and provides students with financial support toward their post-secondary education.
For participating credit unions, CUSYB is more than a bursary program. It is an opportunity to demonstrate the value of credit union membership to young people and their families.
“What keeps me engaged is that membership represents more than banking. It reflects values that align closely with my own, including community support, collaboration, and creating opportunities for others.” Says Adrianna, 2026 Bursary Recipient. “Through my volunteer work and involvement in my community, I have seen the importance of supporting others and strengthening communities through service and care.”
Credit unions can promote CUSYB to their eligible members as an additional benefit of belonging to their credit union helping them connect with young members at an important stage in their lives while demonstrating a commitment to their education and future.
The program can complement an existing credit union bursary or scholarship program. Rather than replacing an existing initiative, CUSYB gives eligible students another opportunity to receive financial support and allows credit unions to expand the educational opportunities available to their members.
Thank you to the credit union community
OCUF extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 35th Annual Golf Classic, from sponsors and golfers to volunteers, student participants and the many credit union and partner organizations who showed up to support the event.
The continued support of the credit union community allows OCUF to invest in students across Ontario and strengthen the connection between young people and the credit union movement.
OCUF looks forward to welcoming the credit union community back for another Golf Classic next year and to continuing to grow the CUSYB program and its impact on Ontario students.
